British Imam Praises London Bombers

Yet another imam who condemned local terror to the press is discovered praising it to a private audience he assumes is Muslim. He also praised a colleague who was quoted saying:

The only way forward is for you, the Muslims, to kill the kufrs (non-believers).

This imam had also compared non-believers to "cockroaches" ripe for extermination. Is there any wonder half of British Muslims say they would be personally willing to volunteer for a suicide murder in Israel? Or that a third say that British Jews are a legitimate target for murder?

Typically, the imam denied the statements, which were recorded.

Interestingly, this confirms what was said by Dr. Tawfik Hamid, a reformed associate of Zawahiri (the al-Qaeda #2), that Muslim leaders who condemned the London bombings were praising them in private.

A left-wing Jewish blogger, without any evidence, not only accused Dr. Hamid of lying (ostensibly because there was no recording of publicly-panning-preachers privately praising them), but then made the "Dr. Hamid lied!!!" charge the centerpiece of his attack on him:

if you can?t believe him about this what else can?t you believe him about?

Dr. Hamid will be appearing in the US for the first time this week at Georgetown (February 16, 7 pm-White Gravenor Hall).

In other British news of reformed Islamists, there is an interesting piece by the daughter of someone responsible for the murder of 400 Israelis: We Were Brought Up to Hate - and We Do. The details of her anti-Semitic schooling in Gaza are very similar to the claims of Walid Shoebat, one of the three reformed terrorists I reported on earlier.

Barak: First let's correct a misstatement. I said Hamid MAY BE lying about the fact that he is neither a Christian nor Muslim. I did not say he was lying when he claimed that Muslim clerics say one thing to the non-Muslim world and the opposite within the Muslim community. What I did say about this was that he was trying to make a sweeping generalization that ALL imams lie and that Islam AS A RELIGION engages in such perfidious behavior. This I reject outright as a calumny against Islam.

Now, lets get to the link you provide. First, you link to an extreme pro-Israel website, Iris, which advertises "Temple kits" for sale. In other words, this site promotes the notion that the Jewish Temple should be restored. Talk about extremist ideology that could ignite a nuclear war (BTW, I'm not the first one who's noted in these terms the danger of such a radical right-wing notion).

Next, the Iris article links to Rupert Murdoch's Times of London, another hard-right anti-Muslim publication. But let us assume, despite the ideological axes that Murdoch has to grind, that the report that a British imam who initally denounced the London bombings has said to an undercover reporter that the bombings were justified--let's assume this is true.

What does it prove? That a single imam is a two-faced liar. Does it prove that Islam engages in perfidy? Certainly not. Does it prove that Tawfiq Hamid's vicious attacks against Islam are justified and accurate? Certainly not.

And now, Barak, could you similarly guarantee for me that none of the settler rabbis has ever rejoiced either publicly or privately in the deaths of Palestinians and that they as a group uniformly denounced the murderous rampage of Baruch Goldstein and other Israeli terrorists who've killed Palestinians? Because if you could show me that this was the case, then I'd say that we Jews and supporters of Israel are pure as driven snow when it comes to the charge that we hate Arabs & Palestinians in particular.

Your "correction of my misstatement" is itself a misstatement.

You quoted from a radio transcript to show Dr. Hamid was lying about imams condemning the London bombings in public and praising them in private. Here it is:

Barry: Tawfiq, even over the past seven days [the interview was recorded shortly after the July London terror attacks] there have been plenty of comments coming out both here [in Ireland] and particularly in London and particularly in the UK. And they?re absolutely condemning what happened in London last week.

Hamid: Because Muslims are under pressure now and they are in a weak position they have a system to protect themselves and they are ready to do anything. So they just say to you, ?we condemn this.? But they?re [in] their private talks

Then you went on to comment:

There?s a willful fallacy in Hamid?s argument. Notice he says that no Muslim demonstrated against bin Laden after 9/11. Yet when Barry points out to him Muslims who have done so after the London terror attack, he switches tactics accusing them of being two-faced and not to be trusted....So if you can?t believe him about this what else can?t you believe him about?

I therefore reiterate my request to issue a correction on your site. By the way, I did not contact you to engage in a comprehensive debate.

I'm afraid that you'll be waiting quite a long time (perhaps till Hell freezes over?) for such a correction since none is necessary or warranted.

You apparently can't read or understand clearly what I wrote. Hamid spoke a "willful fallacy when he stated that no Muslim demonstrated against bin Laden after 9/11." Can you prove that the interviewer Orla Barry's claim that Hamid was wrong & can you show that the AmericanMuslim.org site which I link to (& which you've conveniently excised fr. my quote) which provides 100+ Muslim sites denouncing bin Laden--are wrong?

No, you clearly quoted the Hamid radio interview to show that he accused British imams of publicly condemning the bombers while privately praising them. The undercover reporter demonstrated this was true regarding the imam of the bombers' own mosque. This confirms Hamid's larger point in the transcript on your page, that "the teaching of Islamism itself directs people into a very evil direction." This is precisely the point of the Times Online article I cited:

"How the July 7 bombers came to be radicalised has proved to be one of the biggest mysteries surrounding their involvement. Even the intelligence services are understood to be in the dark."

The "mystery" of why the London bombers attacked their own country is that the imams preaching in their own mosque encouraged it. I would think that would be interesting to someone who claims to want to see a better world.

Because you additionally attacked Hamid regarding his bin Laden statement doesn't affect the other inaccurate criticism. But since you mentioned it, I should point out that that is another of your inaccurate attacks.

You misread Hamid in the transcript as saying Muslim leaders didn't condemn bin Laden. He actually said their condemnations of him were weak and did not include the words "infidel" or "apostate" as they did when they wanted to condemn someone seriously (like Salman Rushdie). Your retort that there were many Muslim condemnations of bin Laden is therefore a non-sequitor. If the words "infidel" or "apostate" figured prominently in those cited condemnations, that would actually be relevant.

The irrefutable evidence of history is that Islam responds to any rumor, however false and ridiculous with violence.

And yet, as with all the other lies and myths, continues to portray Jews and Israel in sub-human forms even as they react with extreme violence to every nonsense about their "precious", false, bogus Mohammed.

I don't know what kind of two-headed mind games that these Imams are playing; I don't understand it. But how many more Jews have to die Richard before you get the picture and stop being a Jewish apologist for Islam and get some Jewish pride and self-esteem?
