I was asked to create a slogan for signs at a rally on behalf of soldiers taken captive by Hezbollah and the Palestinian Authority. I have mixed feelings about these demonstrations because their effect is primarily to apply pressure in precisely the wrong direction, toward pushing Israel to release jihadis. This, of course, logically results in:
the creation of yet another element of forward momentum for the jihad, which is largely dependent on the perception of its success
the murder of countless Israelis and Westerners
larger incentives for the future capture of soldiers
Of course, failure to demonstrate illustrates some level of apathy about their fate, so I wrote the slogan "Free IDF Captives-Not Terrorists," as an attempt to call for their release while condemning the
disaster that is on its way.
