Bush has needed to explain the Global Jihad for too long. The West's lack of clarity has hampered its ability to fight. Today he did exactly that. It was the first time a number of the following critical elements were included, and certainly the only time the case was presented in such a comprehensive way.
-He mentioned Israel in the list of attacks, that the Islamists' goal is to destroy Israel and that anti-Semitism is a key tactic.
-He described the threat as ideological in nature and went beyond the nebulous "war on terror" to identify it as Islamism.
-He explained how the Global Jihad is a single allied force, that al Qaeda is only a part, and that their goal is the building of a massive empire.
-He mentioned Syria and Iran directly as terror sponsors and much of the Arab news media as terror supporters.
-He finally recounted what we reported here earlier, The Untold Story of How Bush is Winning the War on Terror
-He correctly defined the goal as "complete victory."
While the words were ideal, the hypocrisy regarding the Palestinian Authority undermined much of it. He restated the Bush doctrine:
The United States makes no distinction between those who commit acts of terror and those who support and harbor them, because they're equally as guilty of murder. Any government that chooses to be an ally of terror has also chosen to be an enemy of civilization. And the civilized world must hold those regimes to account.
No one qualifies more clearly than the Palestinian Authority who is supervising the construction of a
global hub of terror in Gaza.
