A retraction was published, but it did not stop
anti-Semites from running with this libel a third time:
?Al-Qaida? has just been said to have blown up a hotel in Jordan which is said to have been popular with Israelis. Scores of people got killed, but no Israelis, because they were warned beforehand as reported in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
Those with a good memory might recall that Bibi Netanyahu also escaped the damaging effects of the July 7 bombings in London because Israeli intelligence asked him to leave his hotel just in time. And when the towers in New York got struck on 9/11 employees of the Israeli firm Odigo had been receiving advance warnings to stay at home.
Update: A number of people have asked how an Israeli newspaper could be involved in spreading the misinformation this time. In the current anti-Semitic atmosphere this will likely contribute to Jewish deaths. The situation is unfortunately analagous to America's: the radical political left, which Haaretz represents, is often a "fifth column." The following must-read by Steven Plaut elucidates:
Israel's Taliban Jane on the PLO Payroll
There is one important difference between the Radical Left in America and the Radical Left in Israel. While in both cases they seek the destruction of their own country, the American Left, by and large, never came out in open endorsement of the crimes of "Taliban John" (John Walker Lindh) and denounced his collaboration with the enemy of their nation, while the Israeli Far Left contains many people knocking themselves over to line up to celebrate the crimes of the Israeli analogue to him, Tali Fahima. And now it turns out Tali Fahima has been on the PLO's payroll.
While the Israeli Moonbats have been insisting their Taliban Jane was "set up", the press has been reporting that she has been drawing a monthly income from the PLO. The payments were a result of a request submitted by Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades' terror leader Zakariya Zubeidi, Fahima's boyfriend. Simlar payments are made by the PLO to other imprisoned terrorists who have worked for it. Fahima illustrates the clear and present danger of participation in violence by Israel's seditious Left.
Just to fill you in on the background, Tali Fahima is a 30-year-old Jewish, extremist "peace activist" who is in jail awaiting trial for serving as an accomplice to, and collaborator with, her Palestinian terrorist boyfriend from Jenin, whom she assisted in planning terrorist atrocities against Jewish civilians. Tali's arrest will come as a shock only for those who have been blissfully ignorant of the nature and the agenda of Israel's radical Left over the past two decades. In reality, just like the American campus Left has long been little more than a movement of anti-Americanism, so Israel's far-left is today little more than a movement of anti-Israelism and Jewish self-hatred.
Along with the rest of her comrades, Tali Fahima frequently demonstrated against Israeli "oppression" and "occupation" of Palestinians....Much of Israel's Left has recruited itself on behalf of the imprisoned terrorist Fahima, and the web is full of petitions endorsing her and celebrating her participation in terrorism against Jews. Some of the signers of these have tenure at Israeli universities
Unfortunately Plaut overestimates the radical left in America, which has indeed defended and even celebrated an analagous figure to Tali Fahima:
Lynn Stewart, a lawyer convicted of aiding a terrorist responsible for bombing the World Trade Center.
And the Jordanians, who didn't seem to mind when the suicide bombing carnage ripped through Iraq or Israel, suddenly realized that they don't like being on the receiving end...

One of the proofs that Saddam Hussein supported terrorism was his practice of sending checks to the families of suicide bombers who killed Israelis. Abbas officially issued a condemnation of today's Netanya suicide bombing on pragmatic (never moral) terms
