Ha'aretz:
The PA intends to allow Hamas and Islamic Jihad members to leave the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing to "freshen up" in Egypt.
"We want Hamas and Jihad people to leave Gaza to freshen up and rest. It will be good for us and the Israelis. As soon as the terminal opens, Mahmoud al-Zahar [Hamas' top man in the Gaza Strip] will be able to leave at will," said Walid al-Salhi, the director of Preventive Security at the Rafah crossing.
PA Civil Affairs Minister Mohammed Dahlan will be in charge of the Rafah crossing, along with Preventive Security.
Asked whether Khaled Mashal, head of Hamas' political bureau in Damascus, would be allowed into Gaza, Salhi replied, "Any Gaza Strip resident will be able to leave and anyone holding a Palestinian identity card will be able to enter."
