Evidence the "Paris Riots" Are Actually the "French Intifada."
One of the ways the blogosphere is the perfect illustration of Hayek's theory of "spontaneous generation" is that a term like the "French Intifada" can be simultaneously coined in disparate locations to describe a form of protracted violence with no other fully adequate name to convey the following elements:
-primarily Muslim participants with a uniquely Islamic orientation
-participation of both ritually observant and non-observant community elements
-a majority non-Muslim society
-hatred of non-Muslims as a dominant theme
-lack of emphasis on improving conditions for the agitators
-anti-Semitism
-rejection of majority culture norms to a large degree as well as resistance to accommodation
-terrorism against civilians, destruction of private property and attacks on non-Muslim houses of worship
-an increase of Muslim separatism and a decrease of societal integration as an end-product

Obviously the French Intifada and the Australian Intifada have differences. The most obvious is that there are two sides in the Australian civilian violence. Another is that because of Australia's isolation, the Islamist influx that exacerbated the French Intifada cannot easily occur. Of course, these observations are generalizations to note a distinct pattern, not an absolute descriptor of behavior. (Hat tip:
