 By Amir Taheri (Arab News-Saudi Arabia): The U.S.-led coalition has achieved all its principal objectives in Iraq: The Baathist regime has been dismantled. Democracy seems to be flourishing after several local elections, a constitutional referendum, and two general elections. A one-party system has been replaced with a pluralist one with more than 200 political groups and parties. Baghdad, which once hosted the headquarters of 30 international terror organizations, is now one of the few capitals in the Middle East in which terrorists are no longer welcome. Taheri emphasizes what should be obvious enough, but in the present environment requires emphasis nonetheless due to the Left's and the MSM's denials and onslaught of negative propaganda in general.
When a formative democracy in Iraq is contrasted with the hoped for democracy and self-governance vis-a-vis the dissolute "Palestinian" situation, both the MSM and the Left oddly emphasize pessimism when it comes to the former, yet emphasize optimism, or at least something akin to an optimism, when it comes to the "Palestinian" state of long enculturated terror and deceit and fascistic forms of governance. A telling contrast, that. For Iraq, the Left/MSM postures itself as objective, hard nosed, sober minded surveyors and assayers. Yet when it comes to the "Palestinian" cause, they are resolutely self-blinded to some of the most formidable and enduring realities which stare them right in the face. Add Comment
