Ever wonder when you were a child what you would do if you had the power of becoming invisible? That is precisely what the Muslim face covering (the terms niqab, burka and jilbab all apply) allows, and many terrorists, criminals and fugitives have taken advantage of our politically correct weakness toward the religious practices of another culture. It is an essential tool of the Global Jihad as this continuously updated entry will demonstrate. That is the main reason a heavily-promoted campaign is underway to promote its use (see, for example: Veil-Wearing Muslim Women are Part of our Fight - al-Qaeda Chief).
December 24, 2007: Woman Caught with Bomb Under Burqa

January 15: London Bomb Plotter 'Fled London Wearing Burka'
January 2: Jihadist Posing as Woman in Veil Assassinates Police Chief
December 20: Most Wanted Fugitive Escapes UK in Veil
A suspected police killer escaped capture by fleeing Britain disguised as a Muslim woman.
Asylum seeker Mustaf Jama hid beneath a full-face niqab veil to sneak through Heathrow posing as his sister.
Jama, who is wanted for the murder of policewoman Sharon Beshenivsky, also wore a flowing head-to-toe jilbab as he fled to Somalia.
The Muslim gangster had been freed from jail six months earlier when Home Office officials ruled it would be unfair to deport him to his war-torn homeland because it was too dangerous.
Jama was Britain?s most wanted man when, during last year?s Christmas holidays, he sneaked through Heathrow ? even though air, rail and sea ports were on red alert following the murder in Bradford the month before.
He used his sister?s passport to get through a series of security checks. At no stage was he asked to remove the veil so officials could do a proper identity check.
There would have been opportunities as he checked-in for the flight, at the hand-luggage security screening, when passports are produced at embarkation and when boarding the plane.
Last night the Home Office said that although all those who wear a veil are checked as they arrive in the UK, this is ?rarely done? for departing passengers.
A spokesman confirmed: ?It?s not an automatic policy. Immigration officers reserve the right to ask people to remove the veil in order to confirm their identification.?
If necessary, a passenger can be taken to a private room and be asked to remove their veil by a female officer, he said.
BAA, which runs Heathrow, said it is ultimately up to airline cabin staff during boarding whether to ask for a veil to be lifted, a power which is not rigorously enforced.
One intelligence source said: ?The implications of this are truly frightening. The fact that a man who, at the time, was Britain?s most wanted person walked through airport security checks dressed as a woman could be interpreted as an open invitation to terrorists to sneak on to a jumbo jet and blow it up....
?But it is incredible, given the huge manhunt that was on for him, that he could just walk through Heathrow dressed as a Muslim woman?....
The ?20million trial saw the robbers granted exceptional human rights concessions to ensure their ability to fast and pray during Ramadan was not affected.
The court had to see that the men were back in their prison cells at Durham in time for prayers and on one day the court did not sit because it was a Muslim holy day....
Two hours before the robbery, three of the gangsters attempted to pray at a mosque close to their robbery HQ ? a Home Office-funded property for asylum seekers in Leeds. As a footnote to the above story, the pious cop killer had said:
Don?t make me kill you on a Friday (a reference to the Muslim holy day).

On the day of Sharon's hospitalization I wrote:
Palestinians are, of course, celebrating with the traditional shooting in the air that frequently results in injuries and deaths as the bullets fall. The mainstream media will, of course, cover up this phenomenon. Here, then, is a continually updated post highlighting these incidents when they are reported.
Sep. 3, 2006: "At least three masked militants stood outside a school in the northern West Bank city of Nablus and fired in the air to keep children away, witnesses said. Stray fire hit a 12-year-old boy, Issam Ghannam, in the abdomen, witnesses said."
Jan. 20, 2006: "Bassel Kamel al-Sha'er, 20, from Rafah, was killed accidentally on Wednesday by a live bullet to the head during an election rally when a number of armed members of Fatah fired into the air."
Perhaps the Palestinians can initiate a "gravity awareness campaign" to curb the practice.

John Bolton is on fire at the UN. At the bottom of this post is a running chronicle of his extraordinarily bold initiatives that go to the heart of its necessary reform.
He is turning out to be a typically excellent appointee for the first MBA president. I believe history should judge Bush as the best president in terms of selecting subordinates.
Here is how I described Bush's greatness regarding an overlooked policy initiative earlier: It is classic Bush to spend political capital...to attempt ideologically contrarian initiatives to radically restructure approaches to intractable problems. Bush envisioned a bold defense restructuring based on missile defense, so he appointed Donald Rumsfeld, the owner of the best resume imaginable for that role in terms of ideological vision and history of executive success. Bush wanted to reform the State Department to take up his global democracy initiative so he appointed the excellently suited Condoleezza Rice. John Roberts was a perfect choice to promote all the way to Chief Justice to push back creeping judicial activism over a potential span of decades. In the same way that Ford recovered from the Edsel with the wildly successful Mustang, Bush rebounded from the Harriet Miers debacle with one of the best proponents of strict constructionism in the form of Samuel Alito. Even low-level appointees fit the Bush model of heavy credentials and contrarian ideology. Recently one of the few accomplished Near East Studies professors who takes the global Jihad seriously was appointed to oversee that area of the National Security Council.
Bush's most surprising pick will hopefully never demonstrate why he was the best of all. Dick Cheney may be the last vice president to be chosen in spite of his level of charisma. He fit into the Bush vision, however, of the ideal backup president in the event of a crisis. Ironically that leadership masterstroke nearly cost Bush the opportunity to lead.

Journalists repeatedly act like students cheating on an exam, where the same error propagates around the room because of "group-think." Here are some that eluded fact checkers multiple times: Set 1:
1. "Egypt, a political trendsetter that accounts for more than half the Arab population" (Oct. 19 Washington Post)
2. "Egypt represents more than half the population of the Arab world" (Nov. 13 New York Times)
3. "Egypt, which accounts for more than half the Arab world's population" (Nov. 13 Washington Post) The truth is that Egypt represents about a quarter of the population of the Arab World's 22 countries. Anyone familiar with the Middle East, certainly a reporter who spent 12 years in the area, should have noticed these errors immediately. It's analagous to claiming half of Americans live in California. I e-mailed the Times on Nov. 13 and a correction was printed today.
Set 2:
1. "The concrete wall through Jerusalem carves out Arab enclaves in the city" (Oct. 18 Guardian)
2. "But the Israeli security barrier - a large concrete wall through most of Jerusalem - just makes her angry." (Oct. 30 New York Times) This error is debunked in a must-read here, that goes far beyond simple errors to intransigence over renouncing anti-Israel propaganda.
Set 3:
1. "the violence in France has not taken on religious overtones" (Nov. 8 New York Times)
2. "Islamic ideology and leaders play no role in the disturbances, and many of those participating are not Muslim." (Nov. 8 Washington Post) This claim is fisked in a must-read here.
Set 4:
1. The Gaza plan funding could be the biggest U.S. aid package to Israel since 1992, when Washington paid $3 billion to make up for damage sustained from Iraqi missile salvoes in the Gulf war. (July 11 Reuters)
2. The resettlement aid, if this is approved, would be the largest supplemental assistance to Israel since 1992, when Congress approved $3 billion to pay for damage from errant missiles during the first Gulf War. (July 11 CNN Lou Dobbs Tonight)
3. It would be the largest single aid request from Israel since 1992, when the United States provided some $3 billion to compensate Israel for damage caused by Saddam Hussein's missiles during the 1991 Persian Gulf War. (July 12 Washington Times)
The correct figure was $650 million, as this excellent CAMERA post demonstrates.

Senior Hamas Terrorist Caught after a Decade on Wanted List
Most people of good understand the need for targeted assassinations against terrorists like this man. Why, then, is capital punishment off-limits? He will now spend the rest of his life propagating Islamism to those most willing to murder when released.
Jail is not a deterrent for Islamists. They avoid it because it is less ideal than having unrestricted operational flexibility. But it has its advantages. Most people, particularly in poor countries, do not have the luxury of taking time off from earning a living to focus on ideological pursuits. Prison is like a college campus in that Islamists no longer have to waste time earning a living and can focus exclusively on spreading jihad by recruiting, networking, ideological development and training in an environment filled with their colleagues and most desirable prospects. It often requires time and severance of family ties to develop someone ideologically to the point where he is willing to be a suicide bomber. Prison is currently a nearly ideal catalyst for jihad, whereas we believe it to be a constraint.
