I’m going to go out on a limb here an hour before Sarah Palin’s convention speech with a speculative contrarian prediction. Sarah Palin will be Israel’s best friend since the founding of the state.

But what about the aspersions so far by Jewish leaders? That she knows not a single prominent Jew outside of Alaska? That she is allegedly a Pat Buchanan supporter? That she has never been to Israel? That she has never spoken out about Israel? That she has demonstrated no interest in world affairs at all?

The Buchanan smear is false. The rest is largely irrelevant. Sarah Palin has not engaged in the typical politician’s “I love Israel” pretense because she isn’t a phoney. Both Obama and Biden have done that (as well as Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton) despite ample evidence that they are supportive of the Palestinian dagger aimed at Israel’s heart.

There are two major American ideological groups who take the seemingly illogical Israeli side against a billion anti-Semitic Muslims: political conservatives and evangelicals. Take Mike Huckabee, for example. He proposed a Palestinian state—in Saudi Arabia. Tom Delay spoke in favor of transferring hostile Arabs out of Israel. Palin is committed to both camps. Jewish Zionists often miss this obvious strategic point because of their liberal ideological blinders.

Palin’s support can be seen in the Israeli flag spotted in her office during an unrelated video interview.

Yesterday, she met privately with AIPAC to talk about her beliefs regarding Israel and AIPAC confirmed that she is unquestionably supportive.

On the topic of speculative predictions, here are some others, based on studying her record as the most popular governor in the country and watching videos of her.

Prediction: Sarah Palin’s speech tonight will be wildly successful.

Prediction: The conservative movement will respond to her more enthusiastically than any politician since Reagan.

Prediction: Because of this, the biased mainstream media will attempt to ‘Bork’ her and may indeed succeed.

Prediction: Palin will defeat Biden in the Vice President debates in terms of popular opinion, but the mainstream media will declare Biden the winner.

Prediction: If the media is not successful in derailing her through underhanded smears, Palin will be the next Republican president and will turn out to be a great one.

Prediction: Because of her highly pro-Israel ideology, her once-in-a-lifetime talent and her track record for putting her beliefs ahead of her personal popularity, she will turn out to be Israel's best friend since the founding of the state.

Update: First prediction confirmed. Palin's speech tonight was one of the best ever delivered at a convention. The second prediction is well on its way to fruition--that she is the conservative heir to Reagan.

For anyone interested in tracking these predictions, note that today's betting line on "Intrade" is 59.9 Obama vs. 39.8 McCain. It was also revealed that at the time this prediction was written, many reporters were asking Republican delegates if they favored the "Eagelton option," i.e. rescinding the Palin nomination.

This may be the most idiodic mainstream media analysis I have ever seen...

Apparently being wrong about a large number of "sudden jihad" incidents does not stop this irresistible impulse on the part of law enforcement. Apparently they are not familiar with the fallacy that absence of evidence does not constitute evidence of absence.

In this case, however, a man with this name posted a threat calling for the murder of Christians on July 11th.

Then, after the death, someone posted mocking comments on the same Internet site under the same name, pretending to be writing from Paradise lamenting his lack of 72 virgins. The Rocky Mountain News considers this to be proof that the July 11th poster was the same person "unless someone had taken the name as a joke." I kid you not.

Let me repeat this in case the journalist is trying to understand this. Someone who posts on the Internet after a Muslim death using the name of the deceased claiming to be writing from Paradise lamenting his lack of 72 virgins has most certainly posted the comment as a joke. There is only one other possibility: that it is indeed the deceased, that he has an Internet connection in Paradise, that he mistakenly received male virgins as prizes for his martyrdom, and that he has taken up the term "dudes" to refer to them.

Prediction: this case will be revealed to be yet another case of sudden jihad syndrome.

In what will be the fourth round of questioning in several months, police interrogators will go to the Prime Minister’s residence in Jerusalem to interview Olmert on the latest corruption scandal, police sources told Haaretz. In the so-called “Olmert Tours” affair, Olmert is accused of receiving duplicate funding for trips abroad for himself and his family, and investigators seem more confident than ever that they will have enough information to serve an indictment.

You may be wondering why IRIS is "piling on" now that Olmert has announced he is stepping down.

As I wrote yesterday, Olmert's announcement is nothing more than a cynical ploy to cling to power for as long as possible. It is conceivable that he could remain until March of next year.

There are few things more dangerous to a country than a corrupt leader who has nothing to lose. On a small scale, America experienced this when Bill Clinton issued mass pardons to friends, personal financial contributors and terrorists for leftist causes as he was leaving office.

In this case the stakes are much higher. Olmert not only has the power to continue looting for personal financial gain. The keys to his future pardon are held by Shimon Peres, who is obsessed by giving away land to appease jihadists.

Those who believe the Olmert threat to Israel's security is passed now that he is officially a "lame duck" are quite mistaken.

Prediction: Olmert will accelerate his efforts to give away Israel's land now that he has announced he will step down.

Don't put too much stock in this 'flying pigs' moment. Shimon Peres will revert back to form after a good night's rest:

President Shimon Peres believes there is no chance of an agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.

Peres, the one-time proponent of a "new Middle East" made this statement last Saturday at a dinner with the Jordanian and French ambassadors in Defense Minister Ehud Barak's Tel Aviv apartment.

At the end of the meal an argument erupted between the Jordanian envoy, Ali Ayed, and a well-known "dovish" attorney, who said Israel had no chance of reaching an agreement with the Palestinian Authority under Mahmoud Abbas' leadership. Barak supported his guest's hawkish stance. [I'm not sure I would call that 'hawkish' but this is Haaretz.... CiJ]

At a certain point, Peres intervened, surprising the participants by joining the attorney's prediction. "It would be very hard to reach an agreement," Peres said, due to the Hamas-Fatah split.

He said Abbas had no support among his people, no power to carry out security agreements and that any agreement Israel and the PA made crumbled a day later due to the PA's weakness. Therefore there is no chance of agreement, he summed.

Things are looking very grim for Ehud Olmert in the latest investigation of his corruption. If Olmert is convicted, I predict that he will be pardoned by Shimon Peres as a quid pro quo for Olmert's championing of Peres' pet project--the ceding of Israeli territory to its jihadist enemies.

Ehud Olmert is finding it hard to locate 250 Fatah terrorists to release who missed their targets and are therefore guilty only of attempted murder. The prisons have been emptied too many times before as "goodwill gestures."

So now he's found another loophole: set free pre-Oslo murderers. After all, Fatah renounced all violence at Oslo, so it makes sense that anything prior to Oslo doesn't really count. Certainly they wouldn't kill again after Fatah signed multiple contracts to stop.

Government Considering Release of Pre-Oslo Terrorists

The idea of including Palestinian prisoners with "blood on their hands" who carried out terrorist acts before the Oslo Accords were signed is being discussed in Jerusalem, to "raise the level" of the 250 security prisoners that Israel will release as a good will gesture toward Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

A ministerial committee headed by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is scheduled to meet on Sunday, after the weekly cabinet meeting, to discuss which prisoners Israel will release.

Olmert said last month at the summit in Sharm e-Sheikh with Abbas, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, and Jordanian King Abdullah II that Israel would release 250 Fatah prisoners "without blood on their hands." The cabinet approved this in principle this past Sunday.

Drawing up the list, however, has proven more difficult than expected, because Olmert, according to government officials, does not just want to release Palestinian "rapists or thieves" from Israeli prisons, or security prisoners who are slated to be released within the next few months in any case. He is concerned that the release of these types of prisoners would not strengthen Abbas.

The government is willing to release security prisoners who took part in attacks that did not lead to any deaths, such as terrorists who shot at an IDF patrol, but missed.

Yet another reason for Israel to implement the death penalty for terrorists--left-wing governments won't later be able to release them.

Prediction: Releasing terrorist murderers will be easier in the future now that Shimon Peres has been made President by Olmert and company. Leftists don't need to tone down their true desires when they no longer face reelection. See, for example: Jimmy Carter, Avraham Burg and Ramsey Clark.
